Creativity Connects us to Our Creator

If there were a way for you to access the divine in your daily life, would you do it?  Some people would say, "Yes!  I pray every day!"  Would you consider creating an act of prayer?  Making a meal?   Sewing a garment?  Painting a watercolor?  Writing a story?  Playing your song on the piano?  Anything new that you create is, I believe, an act of the creator.

"I thought you said, "my ability to access the divine"?  Yes.  I did.  But I did not imply that you would only be asking.  When you are creating something new you are also receiving back.  We have been socialized into believing that you just ask and ask and ask with our words and don't expect to receive any answer back.  Well, in the act of creating, you are simultaneously creating and being created by your creator.  For when you engage in the act of creating, any act, any media, you are forever changed.  You see your world, yourself at least a slight bit differently than before you created anything.   You are available to the world in a new way, as well.  For in receiving the creation as it comes through you, you are open to new ways of being and perceiving, and the gift to the world is not only that which you have created.  The gift you have created is also you.

The world, the universe at large, is constantly changing, ever flowing towards something else.  We like to think it is going to be something better than what we have experienced before, but the truth is, it is ALL GOOD.   There is nothing in this universe that is not God and therefore, Good.  We are each and every one of us co-creating with the divine in every moment, in every breath, in every choice that we make of where we focus our attention.  Yes, every choice is   creative.  For it is our thoughts that lead us to action.  It is our feelings that guide the choice of our thoughts (does this feel good--then I'll do it; does this feel bad--I'll go elsewhere).

If you were to choose today what direction your life would lead you, what would you choose?  And would you allow God to freely give to you all that you are asking for?  What if the only thing that stands in our way between us and our dreams (which are also God's dreams--we being the dreamed, as well) is our beliefs.  And what is a belief but a thought that has been chosen to be repeated over and over and over...until it is a habit and we then say, "but this is what I believe..."  Well, this moment is new and we can choose to engage in a new creation today--a new thought, a new habit, a new pattern, a new painting, meal, garment, story, or song.  And in that choice of newness we let God see what he/she can create through us.  In that choice we are free to be the fullness, the completeness that we have been asking for.  We were born with everything that we need to fulfill all of our dreams.  But the degree of ease in which we allow this fulfillment and the magnificence in which we receive are relative.

Right where we are today, let's make a pact to be open to new, to allow ourselves the freedom of completion--complete union with God in every way.  We are creating and being created simultaneously.  We choose today what tomorrow and the next day will be.  Let's choose ease and let God create through us the magnificence that we were intended to be.
